Netflix to Release One Hundred Years of Solitude

Netflix's adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez's acclaimed novel One Hundred Years of Solitude is set to premiere its first part on December 11, 2024. Directed by Alex García López and Laura Mora, the series will consist of 16 episodes, split into two parts, with the second half expected to release in 2025. The story follows the Buendía family in the mythical town of Macondo, exploring themes of madness, impossible love, and a curse of solitude spanning a century. The ensemble cast includes Claudio Cataño, Jerónimo Barón, and Ella Becerra, and the production features contributions from Oscar-winning designer Eugenio Caballero. Filmed entirely in Spanish and in Colombia, the project has been backed by Márquez's family to ensure authenticity. Both directors emphasized the honor and challenge of adapting such a significant literary work into a visual format.
