Cinnabon closes all UK stores after failed expansion

Cinnabon has exited the UK market after its master franchisee EG On The Move, a subsidiary of EG Group, decided to close all 12 licensed stores across the country as part of a strategic business shift focusing on its core convenience retail operations. The US bakery chain, known for its cinnamon rolls, first entered the UK in late 2020 with plans to expand to 150 locations but saw a gradual decline in outlets, with most closing by early 2024. The closures were sudden, with many stores posting notices of permanent closure and the official UK website shutting down. EG On The Move expressed gratitude to staff, customers, and the Cinnabon brand team, emphasizing the decision was not taken lightly but aligned with delivering the greatest value to customers. The shutdown marks the end of Cinnabon’s presence in cities including Glasgow, Stirling, Livingston, London, Manchester, and Birmingham. Customers and local shopping centers had welcomed the brand initially, but the chain ultimately failed to sustain its UK operations.
