China, India Consider Joint Peacekeeping in Ukraine
Chinese military expert Zhou Bo has proposed that China and India could play crucial roles in peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine following the conflict's resolution. He suggests that both nations, which maintain neutrality and have not supplied arms to either side, could offer a collective security guarantee to reassure both Ukraine and Russia. This proposal aligns with China's Global Security Initiative, emphasizing a multipolar world order. Meanwhile, the U.S. has suggested involving Chinese and Brazilian peacekeepers as part of a broader peacekeeping mission, which has been met with a cautious response from Beijing, asserting its position on the Ukraine crisis remains unchanged. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun declined to comment on the U.S. proposal, labeling it as hypothetical. The idea of including non-European troops in peacekeeping efforts has gained traction, with U.S. officials believing it could enhance the effectiveness of any peace agreement.
