Egypt, Japan Sign 12 Agreements to Boost Education, Energy, Industry, Tourism
Egypt and Japan have significantly expanded their cooperation across multiple sectors through the signing of twelve agreements and letters of intent during the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). Central to these agreements is education, where Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education partnered with Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and companies like Casio, Sprix, and Yamaha to enhance technical education, vocational training, special needs support, and modernize curricula including math and IT education. The Egyptian-Japanese Schools project was highlighted as a successful model to be replicated across Africa, and the cooperation also includes adopting the Japanese "Tokkatsu" model to improve overall education quality. Beyond education, collaborations cover clean energy with initiatives on green ammonia and hydrogen fuel in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, alongside industrial development, tourism, and workforce training agreements. High-level participation from Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Japanese officials underscores the strategic importance of these partnerships, which aim to deepen bilateral investment, bolster local production, and strengthen trade ties. This comprehensive collaboration showcases a shared commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth between Egypt and Japan.
