Germany and EU Boost Aid to Ukraine

Germany has committed a substantial aid package to Ukraine, providing an additional €11 billion in military assistance over the coming years, with €3 billion allocated for immediate use in 2025. This aid includes crucial weaponry such as air defense systems, guided missiles, and combat vehicles to bolster Ukraine's defense against Russian forces. The EU is also enhancing its support, with the European Commission disbursing an additional €1 billion in Macro-Financial Assistance to Ukraine, funded by proceeds from frozen Russian assets. This is part of a broader G7 initiative to provide significant financial support to Ukraine, amounting to nearly $50 billion. As the U.S. scales back its aid, European allies are stepping up to fill the gap, despite challenges within the EU to agree on military aid contributions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed gratitude to Germany and other European allies for their continued support.
