The scene, featuring drag queens and a transgender model, sparked outrage among conservative and religious leaders, including former President Donald Trump and Hollywood figures who deemed the portrayal disrespectful to Christians. Jolly clarified that the performance was inspired by Greek mythology and not intended to mock Christianity, while Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo expressed support for him amid the threats. Both Jolly and performer Barbara Butch have filed complaints regarding the harassment and threats they received online. The Paris prosecutors' office is investigating the incidents, with a focus on hate crimes and public insults related to Jolly’s sexual orientation.
