Rays Confirm 2025 Playoff Home at Steinbrenner Field

Major League Baseball has confirmed that if the Tampa Bay Rays qualify for the 2025 postseason, their home playoff games will be held at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, which seats about 10,046, due to ongoing repairs at Tropicana Field following hurricane damage. Tropicana Field is expected to be back in use for the 2026 season. Commissioner Rob Manfred reiterated that league rules require postseason games to be held in designated home ballparks, despite concerns over reduced capacity, revenue, and logistical challenges, especially for later playoff rounds. The league is considering temporary seating expansions to address limited fan access. Meanwhile, the Rays are currently 1.5 games out of a playoff spot, intensifying interest in their postseason prospects. The franchise is in the process of being sold to a group led by Patrick Zalupski, with a deal potentially closing after the 2025 season.
