IOC President Bach Confident in Trump Partnership

Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), expressed confidence in collaborating with President-elect Donald Trump for the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, marking the first Summer Games in the U.S. since 1996. Bach noted that Trump has vocalized his support for the event, a shift from their tense interactions during a previous meeting in 2017. The IOC has already secured $7.3 billion in revenue for the Olympics cycle that includes LA28, and federal support will be crucial for security and visa arrangements for athletes. Bach emphasized that the responsibility for engaging with the incoming Trump administration lies with the organizing committee in LA and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Trump is set to meet Bach soon in Paris, where he will participate in ceremonies for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. Despite previous concerns about their partnership, both leaders seem optimistic about the upcoming Olympic Games.
