Oilers Lead Stars 3-1 in Western Conference Final
The Edmonton Oilers took a commanding 3-1 lead over the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final with a 4-1 victory in Game 4, putting them one win away from the Stanley Cup Final. Corey Perry was instrumental in the win, scoring the go-ahead power-play goal and becoming the fifth player aged 40 or older to score in a conference final, while Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins contributed multiple assists, extending his streak of multi-point games in the series. Zach Hyman left the game early due to an injury after a hard hit, but goaltender Stuart Skinner made 28 saves to contain the Stars' offense. Dallas managed to tie the game briefly on a power-play goal by Jason Robertson but struggled to maintain momentum, allowing Edmonton to pull ahead again and secure the win with two empty-net goals by Kasperi Kapanen and Adam Henrique. The Oilers displayed strong special teams and defensive play, and will look to close out the series in Game 5 in Dallas. This victory marks the Oilers' second consecutive appearance on the cusp of reaching the Stanley Cup Final, a milestone they last achieved in 2006.
