Ukraine, Russia Exchange Mass Drone Strikes

For a third consecutive night, Kyiv launched long‑range drones toward Moscow, briefly disrupting air traffic and forcing closure of Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, Russian authorities said. Moscow and its defence ministry reported widely varying tallies — roughly 28–57 drones downed over the capital and up to about 193 intercepted across nearby regions — with limited confirmed damage in the city but debris and fires in suburbs. Russia launched large overnight UAV attacks on Ukraine, reported at roughly 38 Shahed and Gerbera drones, and Ukrainian air defences downed most, though strikes and falling debris caused casualties and damage, including deadly hits in Kyiv. Regional strikes in Russia killed civilians, including two people in Russian‑held Donetsk (one aged 98) and a minibus driver in Bryansk, according to local reports. Both sides said they were targeting military and energy infrastructure — Kyiv to degrade Russia’s war economy and refineries, Moscow to degrade Ukraine’s energy — prompting Kyiv to appeal for additional Western air‑defence support as winter approaches.
