London Police Spend £20 Million Policing Climate Protests

The Metropolitan Police is calling on the activist group Just Stop Oil to engage with them after revealing that policing the group has cost nearly £20 million. The police claim that £3.5 million has been spent on the group since October this year. The force also reported that the protests have resulted in over 300 officers per day being taken out of frontline policing across London. Commander Kyle Gordon expressed frustration at the diversion of resources and emphasized the need to balance the right to protest with the rights of others.
