Trump Denounces Biopic 'The Apprentice' as Defamatory

Donald Trump has publicly condemned the new biopic *The Apprentice*, labeling it a 'fake and classless' movie that aims to defame him, particularly in light of its portrayal of his late ex-wife Ivana. The film, which stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and Jeremy Strong as attorney Roy Cohn, debuted just weeks before the 2024 presidential election and includes a controversial scene depicting a violent incident involving Ivana. Trump expressed outrage on Truth Social, claiming the film is a 'cheap, defamatory, and politically disgusting hatchet job' designed to undermine his political movement. Screenwriter Gabriel Sherman defended the film, stating that many of its most shocking moments are based on real events. Despite receiving generally positive reviews from critics, the film struggled at the box office, earning only $1.6 million in its opening weekend. Trump's campaign has also issued cease-and-desist letters to the producers, branding the film as 'garbage' and 'pure malicious defamation.'
