Texas Artist, Houston Man Charged With Murder In Separate Shootings

Christopher Jerome Blanton Jr., a Texas country music artist known as C’ing Jerome, has been charged with murder after fatally shooting Cody Davontae Scott, 32, in Fort Worth. Blanton claimed he believed Scott was following him and felt threatened, prompting him to fire shots at Scott's vehicle, which then crashed into a utility pole. However, police investigations and witness statements contradicted Blanton's account, indicating there was no visible threat or confrontation between the two men, who had no prior connection. Blanton was arrested and held at Tarrant County Jail with a bond set at $150,000. Scott, who ran a trucking business and left behind a six-month-old daughter, died from his injuries the day after the incident. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to piece together the events leading to the shooting.
