Japan's Foreign Minister Discusses North Korea Troop Involvement

Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya arrived in Kyiv to discuss the concerning military collaboration between North Korea and Russia, particularly the deployment of North Korean troops supporting Moscow's war in Ukraine. Iwaya met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to reaffirm Japan's support for Ukraine, discuss potential sanctions against Russia, and address threats to global security posed by the deepening cooperation between Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Intelligence suggests that North Korea has sent up to 12,000 troops to Russia, with Pyongyang possibly receiving Russian military technology in exchange. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of Japan's support, which includes $12 billion in aid, and discussed a peace plan to end the war. Additionally, Japan pledged further aid to help Ukraine defend against Russia's invasion.
