Iran has categorically denied allegations that its agents plotted to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, calling the claims a fabricated conspiracy by 'Zionist and anti-Iranian circles'. The U.S. Department of Justice has charged Farhad Shakeri, an accused Iranian asset, for allegedly receiving orders from Iran's Revolutionary Guards to devise a plan to kill Trump before the presidential election. Shakeri reportedly claimed he was given a week to create this plan, but he did not intend to complete it in time. Iranian officials emphasized that similar accusations in the past have been proven false and dismissed the current allegations as an attempt to complicate U.S.-Iran relations. Two other individuals were also charged for their roles in separate assassination plots linked to Iranian interests. Shakeri remains at large in Iran, while the U.S. pursues legal action against the collaborators involved.
