Earthshot Prize Ceremony Set for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William to recognize and fund innovative environmental solutions, will hold its fifth awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this November. This year marks the midway point of a decade-long initiative aimed at addressing global climate challenges, with Prince William emphasizing the importance of Brazil’s biodiversity and innovation. The event will coincide with COP30, further highlighting the significance of environmental efforts. A record 232 nominations from South America were received, doubling last year's submissions, showcasing a growing commitment to tackling climate issues. The awards will distribute £1 million to each of the five winners, selected from a shortlist of fifteen projects that exemplify impactful solutions. Supporters of the initiative, including celebrities and environmental leaders, will participate in accompanying events designed to foster collaboration and investment in these projects.
