Deadly D.C. Plane and Helicopter Collision
A tragic mid-air collision between an American Airlines jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C.'s Ronald Reagan National Airport resulted in the deaths of all passengers and crew, including notable figure skating champions and their families. The plane was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, while the helicopter had three soldiers on board. The deceased include figure skaters Jinna Han and Spencer Lane, their parents, and coaches Yevgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, with condolences being expressed by Pope Francis and the Kremlin. An investigation is underway by the FAA, NTSB, and U.S. military to determine the cause of the crash, as stated by President Donald Trump. This accident is considered one of the deadliest in the U.S. in over two decades, with no survivors expected. Emergency teams have recovered 28 bodies from the Potomac River as search efforts continue.
