GOP Lawmaker Proposes Adding Trump to Mount Rushmore

Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has formally proposed adding President Donald Trump's likeness to Mount Rushmore, sending a letter to the Interior Secretary and distributing a doctored image with Trump included. Ogles argues that Trump's achievements merit recognition alongside the four presidents already on the monument. However, experts such as geomechanical engineer Paul Nelson and Robin Borglum Kennedy, granddaughter of the original sculptor, strongly oppose the idea. They emphasize that the mountain's fractured rock and the memorial's purpose as a tribute to foundational American ideals make such an addition both structurally risky and philosophically inappropriate. The National Park Service reiterated that the monument is a finished work of art and offers no safe or suitable space for further carvings. Despite ongoing political debate, logistical, historical, and artistic challenges render the addition of Trump's face highly unlikely.
