Ex-CIA Chief John Brennan Confronted Over Hunter Biden Laptop Claims at Conference

Former CIA Director John Brennan was confronted and visibly angered at a 2025 conference when questioned by conservative national security consultant Thomas Speciale about a 2020 letter Brennan signed, which claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story bore "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation." Brennan insisted that the letter referred to "Russian influence operations," not outright disinformation, emphasizing a distinction between the two. The 2020 letter, signed by 51 current and former intelligence officials, expressed suspicion of Russian involvement in the Hunter Biden laptop story, which had been used to question Joe Biden's integrity during the 2020 election. Despite the letter's claims, subsequent investigations found no wrongdoing by Joe or Hunter Biden, and the FBI confirmed the laptop's authenticity. The confrontation escalated with Brennan physically poking Speciale in the chest and dismissing further discussion, while Speciale highlighted that former FBI Director James Comey knew the story was not Russian disinformation.
