Ukraine Seeks Billions in German Arms for Air Defense, Vehicles

Ukraine has submitted a secret list of military aid requests to Germany, seeking a wide range of equipment including four new IRIS-T missile systems, thousands of guided missiles, and hundreds of thousands of anti-aircraft rounds to bolster air defense against Russian attacks. The request also includes armored transport vehicles, mine-clearing and engineering vehicles, and electronic warfare technology such as GPS jammers and mobile ground radars to counter enemy drones. Although Germany has not officially confirmed the list due to security concerns, sources in military and industrial sectors have validated its existence. The Ukrainian government has increased its aid budget for 2025 to 8.3 billion euros, giving Germany potential financial flexibility to fulfill these demands. Germany has already signed a contract to supply four IRIS-T SLM systems as part of a larger aid package, and discussions are ongoing about providing additional advanced air defense systems like the Patriot. This new round of military support could significantly enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and impact European security dynamics.
