AgEagle Joins White House Talks on FAA BVLOS Drone Rule
AgEagle Aerial Systems has participated in a second high-level, invitation-only policy discussion hosted by the White House's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs regarding the proposed FAA Rule Part 108. This rule aims to establish a regulatory framework for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations in the United States, replacing the current waiver-based system with a more predictable and innovation-friendly approach. AgEagle's CEO Bill Irby, alongside representatives from 18 leading drone technology companies, emphasized that the rule would remove operational barriers, attract capital investment, and enable the deployment of autonomous drone technologies, benefiting multiple sectors including agriculture, energy, and emergency response. The discussions, facilitated by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International and the Commercial Drone Alliance, highlighted how streamlined regulation could accelerate innovation, improve safety, and strengthen the U.S. position as a global leader in drone technology. AgEagle views this regulatory progress as crucial for expanding commercial and public sector drone applications and fostering increased economic activity. Despite financial challenges such as cash burn and profitability concerns, the company's involvement reflects its strategic role in shaping the domestic drone industry's future.
