On 'The Chris Cuomo Project' podcast, O’Donnell shared that after Trump's 2016 election and subsequent re-election, she decided to relocate to Ireland for her own well-being and that of her autistic, nonbinary child. She expressed dismay that Americans accepted what she described as 'lies' about Trump and criticized media outlets for profiting from such narratives. O’Donnell recalled public mockery by Trump supporters in the U.S., contrasting this with feelings of safety and anonymity in Ireland. Her emigration was motivated by a desire for personal safety, mental health, and a more inclusive setting for her family. O’Donnell’s decision was also influenced by her acrimonious public feud with Trump, which began in 2006.
