Puri district has implemented a three-month ban on poultry farming in response to a bird flu outbreak, particularly affecting the blocks of Pipili, Delang, Nimapada, and Satyabadi. Farming activities are prohibited within a 1-kilometer radius of infected areas, and poultry products cannot be transported or sold within 1 to 10 kilometers of these zones. The Animal Husbandry Department has sealed numerous poultry farms, with testing of chicken samples occurring every 15 days to monitor the situation. So far, over 49,860 birds have been culled to prevent further spread of the H5N1 virus. The administration will reassess the ban based on future test results, with strict guidelines in place to manage the crisis. Residents are urged to avoid contact with birds and report any sick or dead poultry.
