Kanye West Former Publicist Seeks $100K Legal Fees After Motion Dismissal

West attempted to dismiss the case by claiming his statements were protected as artistic expression under California’s anti-SLAPP statute, but Judge Theresa M. Traber rejected this defense, labeling his motion as frivolous and intended to delay proceedings. The judge ruled that West could not use artistic performance as a shield against allegations of blatant antisemitism and discrimination in a private workplace. Following the dismissal of his motion, West was ordered to cover the legal fees incurred by the plaintiff's counsel, who have requested $99,720 for their defense work. West's legal team has appealed the ruling, while the case adds to his ongoing legal and financial challenges related to his controversial public statements and conduct.
