Russia Launches Largest Drone, Missile Attack on Kyiv, Injuring 23
Russia launched its heaviest aerial attack since the war began, firing 550 drones and missiles at Ukraine, primarily targeting Kyiv and causing damage across multiple districts with at least 23 injuries reported. The assault occurred hours after a phone call between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, which ended with no progress as Putin reiterated Russia's determination to continue pursuing its goals in Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted many of the incoming drones and missiles, but Russia managed to hit several locations, igniting fires and resulting in injuries. The attack coincided with the U.S. decision to pause shipments of critical weapons to Ukraine, including Patriot missiles, prompting concerns from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about potential emboldening of Russian forces. Russia also announced successful strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial targets and claimed territorial advances, while Ukraine reported repelling Russian offensives and destroying enemy equipment. Despite Trump's calls for an end to hostilities, Kremlin officials emphasized their focus on what they describe as the root causes of the conflict, including NATO expansion and Western military aid to Ukraine.
