X Expands Lawsuit Against Twitch and Others

Elon Musk's company, X, has expanded its legal battle by adding Twitch to an ongoing lawsuit against companies alleged to have conspired to boycott advertising on the platform. The lawsuit, originally filed in August 2024, accuses the defendants, including the now-defunct Global Alliance of Responsible Media (GARM), of withholding billions in advertising revenue, which X claims violates U.S. antitrust laws. Twitch, owned by Amazon, is accused of not purchasing ads on X since November 2022, and the case is being heard in a federal court in Wichita Falls, Texas. The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), which led GARM, has committed to contesting the allegations in court. The lawsuit reflects X's struggles with declining ad revenue since Musk's acquisition of the platform, amid concerns over brand safety and harmful content. The case continues to unfold, with X having recently dropped Unilever from the suit after reaching a settlement.
