Stellantis Layoffs at Toledo and Detroit Facilities

Stellantis is planning significant layoffs as part of a strategy to realign its U.S. operations and address declining sales and high inventory levels. The automaker will indefinitely lay off around 1,100 workers at its Toledo South Assembly Plant in Ohio, scaling down production from two shifts to one due to reduced demand for the Jeep Gladiator. Additionally, 400 workers at a Detroit logistics facility will lose their jobs as the company transitions operations to a third-party provider. These layoffs are part of broader cost-cutting measures across North America, including past reductions at different plants. Stellantis is providing affected employees with unemployment benefits and healthcare coverage, as stipulated in its agreement with the United Auto Workers union.
