Trump Endorses Cuomo, Threatens Cuts if Mamdani Wins

President Trump issued a late, reluctant but emphatic endorsement of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Truth Social, urging New Yorkers to back Cuomo to stop Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani. He warned that a vote for Republican Curtis Sliwa would help Mamdani and threatened to withhold federal funds if Mamdani won. Cuomo, running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, publicly tried to distance himself from Trump’s backing and appeared to cut short a radio interview when pressed. Mamdani’s campaign mocked the endorsement, while moderates and other figures coalesced behind Cuomo as the race tightened. Hundreds of thousands of early votes have been cast and recent polls show a razor-thin contest.
