Intel Reports $12.9B Q2 Revenue Amid $1.9B Restructuring Charge

Intel reported flat revenue of $12.9 billion in Q2 2025 but posted a GAAP loss per share of $(0.67), driven by significant restructuring and impairment charges totaling nearly $2.7 billion. The company is undergoing a major strategic pivot towards expanding its foundry services, aiming to compete with industry leader TSMC by leveraging new chip nodes like 18A and 14A, backed by a $32 billion U.S. fab investment and CHIPS Act funding. However, adoption of these advanced nodes by external customers remains slow, raising concerns about potential multi-billion-dollar write-offs and the viability of Intel's foundry ambitions. CEO Lip-Bu Tan is considering deprioritizing the 18A node in favor of focusing on the 14A node, reflecting a more cautious approach amid fierce competition and technical challenges.
