Kyrie Irving, currently sidelined with a torn ACL, is set to release a new colorway of his KAI 2 sneakers, named the 'Dallas,' in honor of the Mavericks and the city he has embraced since his trade in 2023. The sneakers feature the team's signature blue and white colors, with retro yellow accents that pay homage to the '90s era of basketball. The design includes a spiral motif inspired by Thanksgiving Square, symbolizing both cultural pride and unity. Despite Irving's absence, the Mavericks are gearing up for a crucial play-in tournament against the Sacramento Kings as they fight for a playoff spot, following a tumultuous period marked by the unexpected trade of Luka Doncic. ANTA described the release as a 'love letter to Dallas,' emphasizing the emotional connection between Irving and the city. The KAI 2 'Dallas' will be available for $125 starting April 19 at ANTA and select retailers.
