Nepal Human Rights Film Festival Opens

The 29th International Film Festival of Kerala, inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, is set to showcase 177 films from 68 countries from December 13 to 20, featuring works across various categories, including international competition and regional cinema. Notable highlights include a lifetime achievement award for Hong Kong director Ann Hui and retrospectives for significant figures in cinema. Concurrently, the 12th Nepal International Human Rights Film Festival opened in Kathmandu, focusing on 'Social Justice' and featuring 53 films from 23 countries, with notable screenings from renowned festivals like Cannes. This festival aims to promote human rights awareness through cinema and includes seminars and interactive sessions. Additionally, the 'Cinema without Barriers' festival celebrated films highlighting the experiences of athletes, artists, and travelers with disabilities, showcasing hundreds of stories from 26 countries. Both festivals emphasize the importance of cinema as a medium for cultural expression and social advocacy.
