Whistleblower Alleges DOJ Pushed Ignoring Court Orders
Former DOJ lawyer Erez Reuveni filed a whistleblower complaint alleging that Emil Bove, a senior Justice Department official and current Trump judicial nominee, advocated for defying federal court orders to expedite mass deportations, specifically referencing the Alien Enemies Act during a March 2024 meeting. Reuveni claims Bove suggested colleagues consider telling judges blocking deportations to 'fuck you.' The complaint, sent to Congress and the DOJ inspector general, also alleges Reuveni was pressured to mislead courts and was ultimately fired after refusing to conceal errors in deportation cases. Reuveni describes a broader pattern of DOJ leadership engaging in disinformation, lack of candor, and intentional delays to undermine the rule of law. Bove, whose federal judgeship nomination faces a Senate hearing, and other DOJ officials have denied the allegations, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche describing Reuveni as a disgruntled former employee. Supporting emails and texts are cited in the complaint, which has generated significant controversy as Bove’s confirmation process advances.
