Opelka Upsets Top Seed Medvedev to Reach Den Bosch Semis
American lucky loser Reilly Opelka stunned top seed Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals of the Libema Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, winning 7-6(5), 7-6(5) to reach the semi-finals. Opelka's serve was pivotal, firing 24 aces and capitalizing on Medvedev's five double faults, including three critical ones in the second-set tiebreak where Medvedev lost a 4-1 lead. This result means Medvedev, ranked 11th, will lose his top 10 ranking on Monday, with Ben Shelton overtaking him after his win in Stuttgart. Opelka, ranked 87th, will next face either Zizou Bergs or Estonian Mark Lajal for a place in the final. In the other semi-final, Canadian Gabriel Diallo upset third seed Karen Khachanov and will face French second seed Ugo Humbert. Opelka's performance marks his second ATP grasscourt semi-final, having previously reached this stage at Newport last year.
