Stevens Announces Impeachment Articles Against RFK Jr.

On Sept. 25 Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) announced she is drafting articles of impeachment against HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of creating “health care chaos” and making care less safe and affordable. Stevens says the articles will target Kennedy’s cuts to lifesaving research (including pediatric and cancer studies), changes and restrictions to childhood and COVID‑19 vaccine schedules, hiring vaccine skeptics, spreading unproven claims (such as a suggested link between acetaminophen/Tylenol in pregnancy and autism), lying to senators, politicizing the FDA, and ending public comment on HHS rulemaking. The move follows controversial actions and public statements by Kennedy — and statements involving President Trump — that have drawn criticism from medical organizations and researchers. Stevens, who called for Kennedy’s resignation earlier this month and is running for U.S. Senate in 2026, says she intends to lead the effort to remove him. The impeachment push is widely seen as unlikely to succeed with Republican control of Congress, though some Republican lawmakers are reportedly increasingly uneasy about the administration’s health decisions.
