RAF Evacuates 63 Britons from Israel amid Iran-Israel Airstrikes

The UK government has commenced evacuating British nationals from Israel amid escalating conflict between Israel and Iran following US attacks on Iranian nuclear sites. The first RAF flight departed Tel Aviv carrying 63 British citizens and their dependents to Cyprus, with further evacuation flights planned depending on demand and security conditions. Foreign Secretary David Lammy confirmed that one British national was injured in an Iranian missile attack in Israel and reassured that consular support is being provided. With Israeli airspace closed, around 4,000 British nationals have registered their presence in Israel, and about 1,000 have requested evacuation assistance. Lammy urged Iran to return to negotiations to prevent further escalation, emphasizing the significant risks to British interests in the region. The UK government continues to advise British nationals in neighboring countries such as Qatar and has temporarily withdrawn staff from its embassy in Tehran due to security concerns.
