Kalahari Resorts plans major indoor water park in Allen, Texas

Kalahari Resorts is considering a significant expansion into Allen, Texas, with a proposed resort featuring both indoor and outdoor waterparks, a convention center, and family entertainment options. This project, located at State Highway 121 and Stacy Road, aims to span 1.2 million square feet and potentially create around 1,000 jobs. Local officials, including Allen Mayor Baine Brooks and City Manager Eric Ellwanger, emphasize that the development could generate $5 billion in economic activity over ten years and provide new tax revenue to support city services. The Allen Economic Development Corporation plans to present a lease agreement and incentive package to the city council, marking the first step in a lengthy approval process. Currently, Kalahari has one Texas location in Round Rock, and this expansion would enhance its presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. The CEO of Kalahari expressed optimism about the discussions with city and state representatives, highlighting the community's welcoming spirit and family-oriented values.
