A salmonella outbreak linked to eggs from Milo’s Poultry Farms in Wisconsin has sickened 65 people across nine states, with 24 hospitalizations reported. The eggs, distributed to restaurants and stores in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan and labeled 'Milo’s Poultry Farms' or 'Tony’s Fresh Market,' have been recalled. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are investigating, having found the outbreak strain in both the farm's packing facility and hen egg-laying house. Consumers are advised to discard or return the recalled eggs and sanitize any surfaces they contacted. The strain of Salmonella identified is resistant to some common antibiotics, potentially complicating treatment for those infected. Salmonella symptoms include fever, diarrhea, and stomach cramps, typically beginning six hours to six days after infection.
