Multiple Officer-Involved Shootings Reported in Elko, El Paso, Medford
In a June 25 incident in Elko County, Nevada, a deputy from the Elko County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence call where 74-year-old Robert Crooks was reportedly shooting through a bedroom wall at the victim. Upon arrival, the deputy ordered Crooks to surrender, but Crooks, armed with an AR-15-style rifle, failed to comply and emerged from his garage with a gun, prompting the deputy to fire multiple shots. Crooks was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators confirmed multiple shots were fired inside the home before law enforcement arrived. Crooks had a significant criminal history, including assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery, and would have faced numerous charges if he had survived. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing with final reports still pending. Separate officer-involved shootings are also under investigation in Medford, Oregon, where a suspect was hospitalized and arrested, and in El Paso, Texas, where federal agencies are actively investigating a shooting incident.
