Scott O'Neil to Lead LIV Golf as CEO

LIV Golf is set to appoint Scott O'Neil, former CEO of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, as its new CEO, succeeding Greg Norman. O'Neil, who has been leading Merlin Entertainments, will take over as the league enters its fourth season. Greg Norman, who has been in charge since LIV Golf's inception in 2022, will transition to a senior advisory role. This leadership change coincides with ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) to form a strategic alliance. The framework agreement announced in June 2023 aimed to resolve conflicts between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, although a final deal has yet to be reached. O'Neil's hiring may help ease tensions with PGA Tour players who have expressed discomfort with Norman's leadership style.
