Azerbaijan Central Bank Holds Interest Rate at 7.25%
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has decided to maintain its key refinancing rate at 7.25%, with the interest rate corridor remaining unchanged at 6.25% (lower bound) and 8.25% (upper bound). This marks at least the tenth consecutive meeting where rates have been held steady, reflecting a period of monetary stability since May of the previous year. The decision comes amid stable inflation, which remains within the central bank's target range and was recorded at 5.9% annually as of March 2025. Favorable external conditions, including a positive trade balance and a projected current account surplus, support the bank's stance. The central bank reaffirmed its commitment to price stability and indicated future rate decisions will be guided by ongoing economic data and inflation risks.
