Obama-Appointed Judge Releases Woman Threatening Trump Under Monitoring
Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old New York City woman arrested for making violent threats against President Donald Trump on social media, was released under electronic monitoring by Chief US District Judge James Boasberg, who also ordered her to see a psychiatrist. Jones had posted disturbing messages on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, threatening to kill the president and urging his arrest, including a statement about being willing to "sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him." She voluntarily gave an interview to the Secret Service admitting her intent to carry out the threat with a bladed weapon. Despite the US Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya denying her bond due to the severity of her threats, Boasberg, appointed by President Obama, authorized her release pending trial, citing her history of schizophrenia and mental illness, though friends said she had never been violent before. The arrest was announced by DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, who emphasized that threatening the president's life is a serious crime and vowed swift prosecution. The decision to release Jones has sparked calls for investigation, with some questioning if a similar response would occur if threats were made against other presidents.
