Ukraine Invites Foreign Firms for Defense Modernization

Ukraine's government has enacted a resolution allowing foreign companies to participate in the modernization of military equipment for its Defense Forces, focusing on state aviation aircraft, ships, and their components. This initiative aims to enhance the effectiveness of outdated equipment by integrating advanced Western technologies and fostering joint high-tech projects with international partners. Deputy Minister of Defense Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko emphasized that foreign firms will require special permits for the transfer of military technology and the export of relevant goods. The revised mechanism provides clear conditions for cooperation and detailed procedures for modernization efforts. As part of its 2025 strategy, Ukraine plans to manufacture 30,000 long-range drones and 3,000 cruise missiles, while also increasing military, political, and economic support from allies like the UK. The reforms reflect Ukraine's ongoing efforts to bolster its defense capabilities amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
