Fertitta to Resign from Roles if Confirmed Ambassador

Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire owner of the Houston Rockets, plans to resign from several key positions, including CEO of Landry's Inc. and chair of the University of Houston System Board of Regents, if confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Italy and San Marino. Fertitta's decision is part of an ethics compliance process, as stated in his letter to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. While he will relinquish active roles in his business ventures, Fertitta intends to maintain passive investments in his companies, including the Houston Rockets and Golden Nugget Casinos. Fertitta, known for his long-term business relationship with former President Donald Trump, was nominated by Trump for the ambassadorship role. His resignation from various business and nonprofit positions will occur within 90 days of confirmation, allowing him to focus on his diplomatic duties. Despite stepping down from leadership roles, Fertitta will not receive a severance package from Fertitta Entertainment, opting instead for deferred compensation.
