Dallas and Fresno Counties Face Ballot Errors

Dallas County certified the results of the November 5 election despite significant issues with voter check-in software, which led to approximately 3,966 voters receiving incorrect ballots. This malfunction primarily affected electronic pollbooks, causing voters to be misassigned to precincts, although it did not impact the outcome of any races due to wide vote margins. Proposition U, which mandates minimum police staffing, had a close margin of victory of 3,204 votes, less than the number of erroneous ballots distributed. In Fresno County, a similar issue occurred with 11 voters receiving wrong ballots due to precinct misassignment, prompting investigations to prevent future errors. Both Dallas and Fresno election officials are working to resolve these issues, but current laws require certification of the results despite these discrepancies.
