Trump Appoints Giuliani, Levin to Homeland Security Advisory Council

Other notable appointees are South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, who will chair the council, Corey Lewandowski, a longtime Trump adviser, and Chris Cox, founder of the "Bikers for Trump" group. Established in 2002, HSAC is tasked with providing real-time, independent advice on homeland security operations and will meet for the first time under this administration in early July. The council's revival follows a reset by the Biden administration, which had restructured the body in 2021 and was subsequently replaced by Trump's team in January 2025. While HSAC historically included experts from various sectors, this iteration reflects a strong alignment with Trump loyalists and aims to fulfill his homeland security priorities.
