Sanders Courts NFL Veterans for Colorado Staff
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is actively recruiting NFL veterans Byron Leftwich and Mike Zimmer to join his Buffaloes coaching staff, aiming to further increase the team's NFL experience. Although both coaches have been seen around the program, Sanders clarified at Big 12 Media Days that neither has officially joined yet and that he is personally courting them. The staff already features NFL Hall of Famers Warren Sapp and Marshall Faulk, and the addition of Leftwich and Zimmer would bring the staff's collective NFL experience to 204 years. Leftwich is a former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator, while Zimmer is a veteran head coach and defensive coordinator. The program has gained national attention and recruiting momentum under Sanders, with these potential hires seen as boosting the team's profile. Both Leftwich and Zimmer's decisions remain pending as fall camp approaches.
