ICE Deports Gang Member Wanted for 2007 Homicide in Mexico

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Humberto Romero Avila, a 45-year-old member of the Paisas gang, to Mexico after he illegally entered the U.S. ten times. Romero is wanted in Mexico for the 2007 murder of 22-year-old Geovany Uriel Prado Morales and has multiple criminal convictions in the U.S., including driving while intoxicated and larceny. His illegal entries began in 2002, with repeated apprehensions leading to voluntary returns to Mexico. ICE highlighted the collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, which helped connect Romero to an outstanding homicide warrant. ICE officials emphasized the importance of immigration enforcement in maintaining public safety, citing Romero as an egregious offender who posed a danger to the community. The deportation marks the end of a long history of evading justice and violating U.S. laws.
