John Hogan Sworn In Premier, Unveils Newfoundland Labrador Cabinet
John Hogan has been sworn in as the 15th Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador after winning the Liberal leadership race with nearly 78 percent of the vote. He replaces Andrew Furey and faces an upcoming provincial election this year. Hogan has appointed a new cabinet of 16 ministers, including Krista Lynn Howell as health minister, John Haggie as minister of justice and public safety, Lisa Dempster as minister of fisheries, forestry and agriculture, Bernard Davis as minister of education, and John Abbott as minister of seniors and housing. Siobhan Coady continues as Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance. Other notable appointments include Steve Crocker as minister of industry, energy and technology, and Gerry Byrne as minister of jobs, immigration, and growth. The cabinet reflects both continuity and reorganization of departments to address provincial priorities under Hogan’s leadership.
