Ohio State Police Respond to Bomb Threats in Springfield

In response to a surge of bomb threats, largely attributed to foreign actors, Ohio has stationed state police at schools in Springfield. Over 30 hoax threats prompted evacuations, and two additional schools were evacuated recently. Governor Mike DeWine confirmed that investigations indicate the threats primarily originated from overseas, although he did not disclose specific details or the country involved to avoid inciting further threats. DeWine's office emphasized the importance of reassuring the community about safety, especially following misleading statements by former President Trump and Senator JD Vance regarding Haitian immigrants. To enhance security, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has deployed officers to each of the district's 18 schools to conduct daily sweeps and maintain a visible presence. This initiative aims to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst the ongoing threats.
