Conservative Group Files Federal Complaint Against Dodgers Over Diversity Policies
America First Legal, a conservative legal group co-founded by White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, has filed a federal civil rights complaint against the Los Angeles Dodgers and their ownership group, Guggenheim Partners, alleging unlawful discrimination under the guise of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The complaint claims the Dodgers violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by using race, color, and sex as factors in employment decisions through DEI initiatives, including sponsoring programs for women and people of color and embedding these strategies into the organization's mission. AFL highlights the Dodgers' Business Resource Groups, such as the Black Action Network and SOMOS LA, which provide benefits and professional development opportunities based on racial and ethnic identity and sex. The complaint follows recent tensions involving the Dodgers denying federal immigration authorities access to Dodger Stadium parking lots amid the Trump administration's immigration enforcement efforts. The Dodgers have not commented on the complaint but previously committed $1 million to support families affected by immigration raids. This filing adds the Dodgers to a growing list of organizations challenged by America First Legal over their diversity efforts.
